The AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® Multifocal IOL Optical System

Our latest advance is designed to compensate for positive corneal spherical aberration1

Spherical Aberration with a Spherical IOL

  • Spherical aberration occurs when light rays are overrefracted at the periphery of a lens system, resulting in a region of defocused light which can decrease image quality

Correction with an Aspheric Optic

  • Aspheric optics align the light rays to compensate for positive corneal spherical aberration, resulting in enhanced image quality

In addition to asphericity, the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL features a unique optic system that merges the strengths of both apodized diffractive and refractive technologies. The AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL uses the central apodized diffractive region and +3.0 D or +4.0 D correction to focus a clear image on the retina for near vision, while the peripheral refractive region, also paired with the central apodized region, helps enhance distance visual acuity.
