The AcrySof® Single-Piece Platform
In the late 1990s, the AcrySof® Single-Piece platform was added to the Alcon family of intraocular lenses. This platform enhanced the highly successful technology of the AcrySof® Multipiece lens by providing additional biomechanical/biomaterial features on a seamless acrylic platform.
The AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL uses the same biomechanical/biomaterial platform as the AcrySof® Single-Piece platform. As of August 2007, the AcrySof® IOL material has been used in over 40 million human eyes.
These features enable:
- Surgeon-friendly implantation
- Excellent centration¹
- Enhanced capsular conformity²
- High refractive index
- High biocompatibility
- Low Nd:YAG rate³
- Physical and chemical stability
- One-step, in-the-bag implantation with MONARCH® II or MONARCH® III IOL Delivery System
The haptics are highly stable and allow the IOL to be centered in the bag. The ultimate elongation of the AcrySof® Single-Piece STABLEFORCE® haptics is approximately 500% greater than PMMA haptics.
